Indian onions’ 35 containers expected in few days KARACHI: About 35 containers full of Indian onions are expected to land at Karachi Port in the next few days.

Karachi Sabzi Mandi Market Committee Vice Chairman, Asif Ahmad told Geo News that the vegetables are being imported to meet the local demands as the Sindh vegetable crops have been badly hit by the floods. He said that tomatoes are being imported from Iran and India, while 35 containers of onions are expected to reach Karachi Port in the next few days.

He further said that Indian onions imported cost works out to approximately Rs1400 per maund and it is imperative that the government withdraws the levied duty on vegetables import for making vegetables available to the public at reasonable rates.
